Due to the way I2P works, it's harder to block than Tor. It even works in China. We even had a Chinese "chan" board for a while, but it's gone now. R.I.P. Walled City...

Telegram was always a honeypot too, this was evident by the fact that they required a phone number for signup.
Peer-to-Peer and Dark-Web chat apps with algorithmically generated user IDs that are not tied to an email, phone number, or anything else, are the way.
SimpleX, Session, Briar, and Tox are some good ones. (Careful with tox, it's true peer-to-peer, so it reveals your IP to people you chat with)

EU law and opinions should be completely disregarded.

Thanks z3d!
I did install that earlier upgrade we were talking about on IRC. And for some reason things happened.
I was afraid my router got banned LOL.
I'm just happy the network is okay - and will be trying the other version today! :)

The EU is retarded in so many ways, but whoever wrote this post is even more.
It takes no more than 5 fucking minutes and and two brain cells to understand that this has nothing to do with "free speech" or the US.
Fuck the EU Fuck the US Fuck Musk
But also, fuck you, OP.

Those issues you're experiencing should be fixed with the latest build, available from:
We should out of the code storm and back on calm seas, apologies for the disruption!

Hey sorry about that downtime :(
I've been having really serious issues on both the server and my laptop also running I2P+ at the moment (100% unusable issues hit both until I find a way to fix it, and had a lot going on lately).
I've been trying different things (nothing changed on my network, no firewall changes) and only was able to post this after bringing i2pd server online today - so I could try to find info out on my issue.
I'm sort of wondering if my routers got banned or something unexpected. I do run a set up with various randomization related things that I wondered if could have triggered it.
I'm really confused as to why my routers aren't working ATM.
Not meaning to go on a rant, but you can in the meantime find the post on clearnet as I'm working on my I2P+ routers (I'm going to jump on IRC now that I have i2pd to use i2p for research / repair efforts).
My I2P java has been having issues building tunnels and keeps saying network restrictions - this might have started 2wk ago but I can't seem to build tunnels long enough to do anything.
Going to try reinstalling i2P+ and hope it fixes my issue, but also blog depends on my install so trying to plan this in a way I won't lose anything.
Until I find a fix (going to reach out to community now that I have a way on i2p with i2pd), you can see the same post on clearnet until I figure this out: https://bmc.link/politictech/selfhosting-i2p-xmpp-servers
Sorry about the unexpected downtime for anyone trying to visit. :(
Hopefully will be able to get the i2p blog back / stable within couple days, as plan to try more tomorrow.

I'd be interested to read this - can't seem to access the link though: "Could not find the following destination: http://righttoprivacy.i2p/selfhosting-your-own-i2p-xmpp-server/" "Could not find the following destination: http://tube.i2p/watch?v=bY3JUNrcnTA"
Anyone else reaching it still, or have another link??

I would expect that some European countries will join the Strict Countries list.

What effects will this have on i2p?
Imo at first they will ignore i2p, because of its small size. Once the regulations grip the clear-web/ open internet, I estimate in a decade or two, they will give attention to banning/blocking or changing i2p.

Finally spent some time to get i2p working so I can post again. It's been a few years, but it seems like i2p is still very slow. The post in f/Vocaloid took about 10 mins. Is there a .onion site for Ramble? In my experience .onion sites are faster than this site on i2p.

I see. I need to take a look at Retroshare, seems cool.
And yes this I have learned too: "please DO NOT run I2P through Tor and vice versa". Not recommended in any way. :D

Not that much so browsing or using the networks would get unusable.

There are studies that proves more than 3 hops do not increase anonymity (so no privacy gain) I run a tor proxy on the same Qube VM I run i2p to access hidden services from both of them. This way I can connect with more people on Retroshare. This is the only benefit of using the two networks at the same time, but please DO NOT run I2P through Tor and vice versa

This obviously increase latency.

I think that all cryptocurrencies lack the underlying asset to back their value, I am not saying they are worthless because the ability to make almost anonymous transactions has some value. Nevertheless I could not care less about cryptocurrencies, I care about the tools that these systems offers us, because what I am proposing is not replacing money it is replacing the government. What is needed to entice people to use this future system is security and fairness. To that end the system should have some immutable code at the center (this part would not be negotiable any change will ban the user of making any transaction within the community). Also and for me very important to the success is that this core code should include a basic income for all those registered as citizens, this compensation will be covered by the only possible tax the system will be able to make, which will be from a percentage of each transaction. Also important to avoid conflicts of interests receiving a basic will exclude you from the electoral pool. Anyway the thing is simple at the core but maybe is way too complicated to explain in this post.

interesting thoughts but we already have things like i2p and tor. the only reason why bitcoin and other blockchain based currencies exist is because we apply value to them and therefore are able to pay for things with them. most of what you describe is already happening

I found this site from Lemmy.world two weeks ago. His clearnet address is something written in japanese with domain being .xyz, but the japanese letters get converted. Too bad I did not save it to bookmarks, but glad there is .i2p and tor domains too.

Nothingburger, another pro-euro government project. European techbros are as obnoxious as american ones, but worse because they shill government encroachment on top of everything bad techbros have culture wise.
